Ahead of their series with the Detroit Tigers, the Braves announced that reliever Dylan Lee has been placed on paternity leave. In a corresponding move, Didier Fuentes has rejoined the major-league club.
Fuentes was sent back down after his last start in which he only made it through three innings and allowed four earned runs. The stat line wasn’t pretty overall, but his seven strikeouts and the stuff should still have fans excited about what he can potentially offer the club down the line.
For now, however, this move is strictly procedural. Fuentes is not expected to make a start this week. The Braves simply needed another arm in the bullpen, preferably one that could cover multiple innings if necessary.
