Anytime a pass rusher becomes available for trade, the Falcons should be at the forefront of the conversation. It’s been the single most glaring weakness in Atlanta for over a decade. Even with their investment into the position during this year’s NFL Draft, they should still be looking for more, and the latest name to hit the trade block is a big one.
On Friday, one of the most dominant sack artists in the game not only requested a trade, but he even typed up a thank you letter to the city of Dallas.

Despite years of ongoing negotiations, the Cowboys and Micah Parsons remain far apart on a new deal. But to be fair, this is nothing new in Dallas. Jerry Jones has long been known for playing hardball in contract talks, often dragging them out far longer than necessary. It sometimes feels intentional — a way to keep the Cowboys in the headlines — but the result is usually the same: the player gets paid even more than if the team had just met the initial demands.
It would be pretty shocking if Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons — a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro at just 26-years-old — but that’s not going to stop teams from inquiring. And the Falcons should absolutely be one of them.
Atlanta Falcons Hypothetical Trade For Micah Parsons
Falcons Trade: Jalon Walker, Kyle Pitts, 2026 second-round pick, 2027 first-round pick
Cowboys Trade: Micah Parsons, 2026 third-round pick

Falcons fans probably aren’t going to love this trade, especially ones that are fans of the University of Georgia. However, if the Cowboys were to legitimately consider offers for Micah Parsons, they would ask for an absolute haul in return.
That makes things tricky for Atlanta, which already dealt its 2026 first-round pick to move up in the 2025 draft and select James Pearce Jr. If the Falcons want to have any real shot at Parsons, one would imagine a package centered around either Pearce or Jalon Walker would have to be on the table.
It would be an all-in move for Atlanta, a clear signal that the front office believes Michael Penix Jr. is the future of the franchise. By pulling off a trade like this, the Falcons would be without their own first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. And if Penix doesn’t live up to the hype of a top-10 selection, the franchise would be staring down a bleak future — no quarterback and no premium draft capital to fix the problem.
That might be the biggest obstacle to any potential trade for Micah Parsons. The Falcons have the draft capital and assets to work something out, and they’ll have plenty of money with Kirk Cousins coming off the books to pay Parsons. But the future of this organization would be in shambles if Michael Penix Jr. doesn’t turn out to be the guy under center for the Falcons
