The Atlanta Braves dropped a couple of massive injury updates ahead of their series with the Washington Nationals. Ronald Acuña Jr. will begin his rehab assignment tomorrow with the Florida Complex League, and Spencer Strider will pitch around 75 pitches in a sim game on Wednesday. After that, the Braves will decide if he needs a rehab assignment or will get thrust back into the rotation next week.

If Spencer Strider feels right on Thursday morning after throwing 75 pitches, it’s highly unlikely they will deem it necessary for him to go out on a rehab assignment.
However, the Braves rotation has been a strong-suit for the club of late. Even in Strider’s absence, Bryce Elder and AJ Smith-Shawver have pitched marvelously. It’s really not fair that either of them should have to go down so soon, but it’s possible the Braves go to a six-man rotation for a little bit. They are amid a stretch where they play 17 games in 17 days. The health of their top guys also has to be taken into consideration, given how many injuries the Braves pitching staff has endured over the last several seasons.
