Over his tenure as general manager, Alex Anthopoulos has refused to trade his best prospects — and more often than not, he’s been right to do so. Ninety-five percent of the young talent he’s included in trades has gone on to amount to very little, while the guys he’s held onto have turned into superstars.

Most believe Anthopoulos isn’t going to change strategy at this year’s trade deadline either, which is why MLB Pipeline named Alex Lodise the Braves’ most likely prospect to be moved.

“The Braves are back atop the NL East, preparing for a postseason run and, frankly, pretty much anyone in their system should be open for conversation, even if they eventually hold on to their top guys. The 2025 Draft has provided Top 10 guys like Tate Southisene and Briggs McKenzie, along with Lodise, their second-round pick. While he hasn’t taken the leap forward this year that Southisene has, the infielder’s power has shown up, with 21 homers to go along with 15 steals, earning a recent promotion to High-A Rome.”

Lodise hasn’t gotten the same recognition throughout his first professional season as Tate Southisene, who was taken in the round before him in last year’s MLB Draft. But a lot of that comes down to a slow start to the campaign. Take out that first month, and he’s been as productive at the plate as anybody in Atlanta’s farm system.

However, if the Braves are going to add significant pieces at the trade deadline, they’re going to have to give up something they like. Southisene may be off limits, along with other top prospects like Eric Hartman and Cam Caminiti. But Lodise does feel like someone more likely to be included in conversations over the next few days.
