In some devastating news surrounding the Georgia Bulldogs football program, Kirby Smart’s father, Sonny Smart, has passed away after suffering a fall in New Orleans.

Sonny Smart was admitted to the hospital on New Year’s Day ahead of the Bulldogs matchup with Notre Dame. He was unable to recover and was surrounded by family at the time of his passing. The incident was unrelated to the terroristic activity that occurred on New Year’s Eve, which caused the Sugar Bowl to be delayed for 24 hours.

Our hearts go out to Kirby Smart and the Smart family during this absolutely tragic time.
