In perhaps the most exciting development of Georgia’s offseason, top quarterback recruit Jared Curtis has committed to the Bulldogs over the Oregon Ducks.
Curtis is the #1 quarterback in the 2026 class, a position that Kirby Smart has not had trouble recruiting during his tenure as head coach. The problem has been keeping those guys in the building. Three different five star quarterbacks have signed with the Bulldogs since Smart arrived — Jacob Eason, Justin Fields, and Brock Vandagriff — all of whom ended up transferring to different programs, with Eason being the only one that received starting reps.
Bulldogs fans are rightfully excited for Jared Curtis to break that trend, and they should also be giddy about what’s next on the recruiting trail. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Curtis hopes to lead the charge in recruiting other stars in the 2026 class, beginning with the #1 offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
Spoke with Jared Curtis earlier & he’s eager to take on a recruiting role as Georgia’s leader for the ‘26 Class

When asked who he is targeting most, none other than Five-Star Plus+ OT Jackson Cantwell
Will Georgia land the #1 OT & #1 QB in 2026? 👀https://t.co/Erl1VjccyU pic.twitter.com/Tl5zQbISvu
Cantwell — standing at 6’7″, 300 pounds — is the #1 overall recruit in the country that projects as a multi-year starter for whatever program is lucky enough to land him, and he had his eyes on Jared Curtis’ announcement yesterday.
Congratulations 🤝 @Jaredcurtis37 https://t.co/IzJyLpgXKZ

Jason Cantwell originally had a commitment date set for April 30th. That was pushed back two weeks to May 13th, a day all Bulldogs fans should have circled on their calendar. If Jared Curtis can play a hand in helping Georgia land the top recruit in the country, he’ll have quite the reputation before he even steps on campus.
