Hawks will have stiff competition for Bob Myers this offseason

When the Hawks fired Landry Fields, it surprised a lot of people around the Association, but Tony Ressler’s vision became clear when reports surfaced that Atlanta was targeting Bob Myers to be the club’s President of Basketball Operations.

While Fields may not have deserved to be fired, if an opportunity arises to hire one of the greatest front office members in league history, you move on. Myers is the architect of the Warriors dynasty and would immediately become the biggest ‘gets’ in franchise history.

But obviously, the Hawks won’t be alone in their pursuit of Myers. In fact, Atlanta will have stiff competition, according to Brett Siegel.

“The Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks recently made front-office firings with Calvin Booth and Landry Fields, respectively, and the Phoenix Suns are going to be aggressive in their efforts to add front-office help.

Suns owner Mat Ishbia is very displeased with his team’s lack of success this season. As a result, he is willing to pay “top dollar” for a championship-proven executive to help spearhead his front office, sources said. Bob Myers is a rumored desired target.”

Bob Myers will be the most sought after GM/POBO this offseason. Every organization with an opening will touch base. The Hawks are an attractive gig for a couple of reasons.

Trae Young is a superstar and surrounded by an exciting young core that features Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, and Onyeka Okongwu. The only downside would be ownership’s unwillingness to go into the luxury tax, and they don’t own their first-round picks in a couple of the upcoming drafts.

However, if Tony Ressler assures Bob Myers that he’ll have every resource at his disposal, it could lure the legendary executive to the East Coast.
