With the 15th pick in the NFL Draft, the Falcons finally did it, taking Georgia Bulldogs star Jalon Walker.

Could argue he’s the best edge rusher in this draft class. Home run pick by Terry Fontenot. pic.twitter.com/m2EEuDxxdN

Falcons fans that are also Georgia Bulldogs fans have been begging for the Falcons to finally draft one of the menacing defenders out of Kirby Smart‘s program. They’ve been tearing up the league for rivals, while the Falcons defense has remained one of the worst in the league year after year.
Among all the defensive stars out of Georgia that will go in this year’s draft, Jalon Walker is undoubtedly the most intriguing. He is a bit of a tweener, a guy that lined up all over for the Bulldogs defense, showing the ability to play both off-ball linebacker and off the edge at the professional level. In 2024, Walker racked up 60 total tackles, 11 of which went for loss, and 6.5 sacks.
However, there’s nothing confusing about what the Falcons are hoping to see out of their first round pick. Jalon Walker has the ceiling as a pass rusher that can only be matched by a few other prospects. The Falcons need a guy that can get after the passer, and the hope is that Walker can successfully make the transition into a full-time EDGE, becoming a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
