Cash Jones garnering a lot of praise at Falcons OTAs

Undrafted free agents aren’t typically storylines during the offseason, but former Georgia running back Cash Jones drew some high praise from Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski this week at OTAs.

Earlier in the offseason, Zachariah Branch — Jones’ teammate at Georgia and the Falcons’ third-round selection in this year’s draft — revealed that Jones has moved from running back to wide receiver as he transitions to the professional level.

That’s not exactly shocking given his college production. Despite lining up as a running back, Jones actually caught more passes (57) than he had carries (52) over 53 games, used almost exclusively in third-down situations.

Making the 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent is a tough hill to climb under any circumstances — tougher still when you’re switching positions. But Jones’ versatility and his potential impact on special teams — an area where the Falcons were horrendous a year ago — make him an early favorite among the undrafted free agents to clear that hurdle.
