According to the Gwinnett Stripers transaction log, the Braves have released five-time All-Star Andrew McCutchen.

McCutchen inked a minor-league contract with the Braves about a month ago after being released by the Rangers. It was always a long shot he’d work his way back onto a major-league roster, and the acquisition of Lane Thomas ahead of the trade deadline all but sealed his fate.

However, McCutchen showed he might still have some life in his bat. In ten games for the Gwinnett Stripers, he racked up 10 hits, including four extra-base knocks and a home run. There should be another opportunity out there if he wants to keep playing.
