When the Atlanta Hawks traded for point guard Jeremy Lin, it was a foregone conclusion that the Linatics would follow suit. The problem is instead of appreciating that your favorite player has a place to showcase his abilities, there is angst on a nightly basis about his opportunities. Lin averages 10.9 points and 3.6 assists in 19.0 minutes per contest. That is 20.5 points and 6.7 assists per 36 minutes, and he is shooting the ball at over 50% from the field.
The Bottom Line
For a player who is experiencing his first healthy season in three years, what else can you ask for? He is happy in Atlanta and looks the best he has his entire career, so why not cheer him on with the rest of the Atlanta Hawks fans? I propose a truce between the team and the Jeremy Lin fans so that we can both watch the games and appreciate what Lin brings together.
Until a headline reads “The Atlanta Hawks trade PG Jeremy Lin to [insert team name here]” he is a Hawk and will proudly be celebrated as a member of this developing team.  The Hawks appreciate him for being the player that he is and mentoring the future of the organization, Trae Young. That is the job he was brought in to do. While Jeremy Lin is in Atlanta we must appreciate him for all he brings on and off the court. My question is can we do it together as Hawks fans?
