After a sluggish start to his rehab assignment in Gwinnett — recording just three hits in his first 18 at-bats — Ozzie Albies exploded last night for five hits, including this walk-off home run to center field.

Man, I missed that sweet right-handed swing. It’s been too long since we’ve seen Ozzie Albies in a Braves uniform, but I don’t think we will have to wait much longer.
According to the AJC’s Justin Toscano, Albies is scheduled to play nine innings in the field today as well.
Ozzie Albies is scheduled to play nine innings at second base tonight and nine more tomorrow, Brian Snitker said. The Braves will see how he feels after that. Rain has slowed his rehab assignment.

The Braves haven’t disclosed what the plan is after that. As Toscano notes, weather has delayed the progress of his rehab assignment. But if I had to guess, the goal is for him to rejoin the team sometime during the next homestand.
The Braves wrap up their eight-game trip out west this afternoon against the Giants. They then have an off day on Thursday before beginning a three-game set with the Phillies. Assuming everything goes well for Albies on Wednesday, they could potentially recall him by Friday, but if they wanted to give him a few more games in Gwinnett, the Braves stay at Truist Park to begin next week against the Nationals.
With Vaughn Grissom in the fold, the Braves haven’t missed a beat. Orlando Arcia also filled in valiantly before Grissom was called up. However, neither of them is a better option than Albies. If he’s anywhere close to 100%, he gives the Braves their best chance of repeating. So while Albies won’t be rushed, I don’t expect it to be much longer before we see him in Atlanta.
