With the entire playoff field now intact (sorry, Yankees), we have a much better idea of who Vegas thinks are the best teams in baseball. Here are the updated World Series odds following the Yankees loss to the Red Sox.

Yep, you read that right. According to Vegas, the Braves have the second-worst odds among playoff teams to raise the Commissioner’s Trophy.
In some ways, that’s understandable. Every team in front of them — and behind them, for that matter — finished with a better record, and they are also much healthier. However, as I’ve reiterated many times before, the best teams or the team with the best record doesn’t always win. It’s usually the hottest team, and the Braves have been scorching hot since the trade deadline, and they finished the last two weeks of the season on a tear.
If Atlanta can skate past Milwaukee, who stumbled into the playoffs, anything can happen. You also can’t underestimate how much of a factor experience can play, and the Braves have a plethora of postseason experience. The moment shouldn’t be too big for them, so I expect them to give everyone they play a run for their money. I think they are a pretty good bet at +1100, but if you paid attention to me, you could have gotten them at +1700 just a couple of weeks ago.
