Phillies manager Rob Thomson provided some hypocritical and soft comments regarding Ronald Acuna’s actions when rounding the bases on Tuesday night on his 37th home run of the season.
“I like our guys to act like they’ve been there before.”

It’s funny because he doesn’t seem to mind when it’s his team spiking bats like Rob Gronkowski on a Sunday afternoon.

I’m a fan of all of it. Celebrations, emotions, bat flips, and pimp jobs — they all should be part of the game. Old heads that don’t like it should find a new hobby, especially ones like Thomson who only have a problem with it when their team is about to watch their rivals celebrate a sixth straight division title on their home turf.
Tyler Matzek is still currently recovering from Tommy John surgery, which took place at the end of last season. Unfortunately, he won’t be a part of this year’s postseason run, but the Braves bullpen could desperately use his high-powered arm from the left side.
However, Matzek is a Brave through and through. He backed up his teammates in the dugout earlier in the season when Pete Alonso infamously taunted Bryce Elder to “throw it again,” and he had Acuna’s back again tonight with these words for Rob Thomson.
If you don’t like it, stop it. If you can’t stop it, admire it. If you can’t admire it, keep it down so everyone else can enjoy the show. #AcunaMVP pic.twitter.com/xosYsIZe9U

Few Braves will be remembered like Tyler Matzek. He’s an outstanding teammate with a fantastic sense of humor. Oh, and he also delivered one of the biggest moments in franchise history during Atlanta’s 2021 World Series run.

At the end of the day, if you don’t like Acuna celebrating, do something about it. If you can’t, shut up.
