It’s easy to keep up with some of the big-time names that have left the Braves in recent years, most notably Freddie Freeman and Dansby Swanson. They’re highly paid players on big-market teams. However, two guys from long ago have recently made huge strides and are looking like potential all stars — and you probably wouldn’t expect either of them to be playing this well.

Starting with Wilson, he has an eye-popping 0.82 ERA with three saves over 11 innings. He has been a real weapon for the Brewers, and although he may regress to the mean, he may have really found a role in the majors. I wished him all the best when the Braves traded him to the Pirates, but he had a pretty bad run in Pittsburgh. After being traded for cash, he seems to have a new home, and I couldn’t be happier for the guy.
Christian Bethancourt fell off the map for a little while, but he’s having a great season in Tampa. His .904 OPS with three home runs is near the top of the AL for catchers, and he’s part of a team that looks very scary early in the season. His defense looks pretty good as well.
I’m happy for both of these guys. They were fun Braves that didn’t fit the team for some reason or another, but I’m glad they’re finding success with their new clubs.
