In the most recent release of the Early All-Star voting, Trae Young was the leading vote-getter among Eastern Conference guards. Even if he somehow falls out of favor with the fans, which I don’t imagine happening, he will likely be in the game one way or another. But that won’t be the only place you will see him All-Star weekend.
The 22-year-old superstar point guard told Chris Kirschner of The Athletic today that he plans on competing in the Rising Stars challenge as well as the Three-Point contest.
Trae Young said he plans to participate in the 3-point contest and the Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend.

Now, the only thing left for that to happen is Young actually has to receive an invite, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t. He participated in the Rising Stars challenge last year and helped lead Team USA to a victory over Team World with 25 points and 10 dimes. Young’s also one of the most electric shooters the league has ever seen. There’s no reason for him not to be selected for the Three-Point contest if it is something that he wants to do.
Once again, this type of willingness to compete whenever and wherever is something you have to admire about Young. It doesn’t matter what it is – if it has something to do with basketball – Young wants to prove he is the best of it. Eventually, that type of competitive fire is going to pay off over the course of his career.
