Delp, who has been a key contributor to Georgia’s offense since stepping into the starting role after Brock Bowers’ departure, has shown steady growth in his game, particularly as a blocker. However, despite his talent and potential, Delp’s involvement in the offensive scheme has sometimes been inconsistent under Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo. While he made significant plays throughout the 2024 season, there were stretches where he seemed to disappear from the game plan.
Delp’s decision to return for 2025 is critical for a Georgia offense that will feature a first-year starting quarterback, whether it’s Gunner Stockton or Ryan Puglisi, following Carson Beck’s departure. An experienced tight end like Delp will serve as a security blanket for the new signal-caller, offering a reliable target in the passing game and dependable support in the run game. His presence, alongside fellow tight end Lawson Luckie, creates one of the most experienced and versatile tight end duos in the SEC.
In addition to Delp and Luckie, Georgia’s depth at tight end remains strong. Highly touted freshmen Jaden Riddell and Colton Heinrich will join the rotation, giving the Bulldogs a formidable returning group at the position. Elyiss Williams and Ethan Barbour are talented incoming freshmen who could contribute as well. With Delp and Luckie leading the charge, Georgia’s tight end corps should continue to be a cornerstone of the offense.
