According to Tori McElhaney, Matt Corral says the Falcons were the second team he had meetings with.
Matt Corral said the Falcons were the second team he had a formal interview with. Said Matt Ryan is someone he would want to be like one day: 10+ years with a team, franchise QB, stats to back up an arguably Hall of Fame career. Added he’d be crazy to not want to learn from Ryan.

Corral burst onto the scene as a redshirt sophomore in Lane Kiffin’s pass-happy offense at Ole Miss, tossing for nearly 4,000 yards and 30 TDs. He followed it up with another productive campaign in 2021, leading the Rebels to their first ten win season in school history and a berth in the Sugar Bowl.
At that point, many believed Corral could be the top quarterback taken in the draft, but a leg injury he suffered in the Sugar Bowl could force him to slide down some draft boards. He won’t throw at the combine, but we could see much more for him during Ole Miss’ pro day, which is scheduled for March 23rd.
The fact that the Falcons have already interviewed Corral is not surprising in the slightest. They have a decision to make regarding Matt Ryan‘s future, and it’s very possible they choose to move on from him after the 2022 season. Sooner or later, a succession plan will have to be put into place, so expect the Falcons to do their due diligence on every quarterback entering the draft.
