Though the Hawks still have not acquired that superstar they have seeked for years, it is not for a lack of effort. Hawks fans knew that the Indiana Pacers had rejected an offer from the team, but the exact details were never released. Today, Brian Windhorst reported that the Hawks had offered four first rounders for the superstar small forward.
Though it would be great to land George, it is still a risky investment. He will be a free agent at year’s end and has been linked numerous times to the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Hawks are desperate and is likely going to have to take a chance to get their next superstar.
The real question is whether the Hawks will try to pursue George again this summer. They have really nice young pieces that have developed a ton since the trade deadline and four first rounders over the next two years. The Hawks may have what it takes to pull it off, but it will be risky business.
