Super Bowl LX odds are quite jarring for the Falcons

Only a couple hundred days until the NFL is back, but Vegas never sleeps. Super Bowl LIX is over, with the Eagles crowned as champions, and the odds for Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 8, 2026 have already been released, but it doesn’t paint the Falcons in a good light.

Per DraftKings odds, the Falcons are tied for the 18th-best odds to raise next year’s Lombardi Trophy at +6500. If that doesn’t put into perspective who Atlanta is expected to be next season, I don’t know what will.

The Falcons are expected to be a slightly below-average football team. Does that mean a one-and-done postseason appearance? Or does that mean an eighth consecutive season without a playoff berth? The 18th-best odds would indicate the Falcons are in the exact same spot they’ve been in for a half-decade.

With Michael Penix Jr. taking over in Atlanta, there’s reason to be optimistic, especially after we just watched Jayden Daniels lead a Commanders team to the NFC Championship game. Mind you, Washington was not loaded with talent. That’s what an elite quarterback can do for a team.

But let’s put it into perspective. The Super Bowl champion Eagles embarrassed the Commanders, completely dominating them in Philly. The reality is the Commanders were still far away from a Super Bowl, and so are the Falcons.

The Eagles showed everyone the blueprint of how to consistently make the playoffs, beefing up the trenches. Nothing has changed in 100 years in the NFL, and the Falcons still lack the necessary talent in the trenches to compete at the highest levels.

I am as excited as anyone for Michael Penix Jr., but until those in charge start doing something different or we find other people to run the organization, the results are going to be the same.
