The Atlanta Falcons have announced they have parted ways with 11-year veteran Steven Jackson. Jackson was signed in 2012 to a three-year deal worth $12 million with $4 million guaranteed. Cutting Jackson has opened up $3.75 million dollars in cap space for the team. Coming off of a heartbreaking loss in the 2012 NFC Championship to the San Francisco 49ers, the Falcons believed that there were a few pieces to add in order to propel them to their first Super Bowl birth since 1999. Atlanta fans had high hopes that maybe Jackson could bring his ruthless running style into Atlanta, but it seemed to never happen. Jackson had a disappointing stint with the Falcons, running for 190 carries, 707 yards, and only 6 touchdowns. Jackson always brought his veteran leadership to the players around him, and we wish him nothing but the best.
