Chase Irle’s Locks
Last week was a perfect opportunity to start the season 3-0, but I ruined that by violating an unwritten rule in the gambling community, betting on my team. The Falcons lets me down, and I won’t make that mistake again. OK, I probably will but let’s get to my Week 2 picks.
Titans (-7.5) vs. Jaguars
The Jags pulled off the upset last week against the Colts, but I’m not buying that long-term. This is still one of the worst teams in football, and at just -7.5, the Titans are a bargain.
Ravens (-6.5) at Texans
I’m following the masses with this pick, something I normally try and stay away from, but the Ravens have been a gold mine for going on two years now. Meanwhile, the Texans are massively overrated. This could be another wipeout by Baltimore.
Jets (+7) vs. 49ers
Betting on the Jets should also be against gambling’s unwritten rules, but I’m doing it. This number is WAY too high. The 49ers looked like a shell of themselves against the Cardinals last week, and they are incredibly banged up. Now, they travel across the country to face a Jets team that got embarrassed last week. New York is a live dog in this matchup.

Ravens (-6.5) v Texans
I made the mistake of not going with my gut and expecting the Browns to be the Browns. The Cowboys let me down, and the Jags pulled off a massive upset. However, D’Andre Swift saved me from an 0-3 start. I’m riding the Ravens all season, and so should you. They’re head and shoulders above their competition, and I expect them to dismantle Houston like they did 41-7 last year.
Saints (-6.5) v Raiders
Two big lines to start, but Las Vegas barely made it past a bottom-feeding Panthers team in their shiny new stadium. I don’t expect Josh Jacobs to rumble for three scores against New Orleans. I wasn’t terribly impressed by New Orleans against Tampa Bay, but I’ll take them on Monday night here. The last time we saw them on a Monday, they dismantled the Colts 34-7.
49ers (-3.5 First Half) v Jets
I really like the Giants to cover against the Bears, and if Vic Fangio knew how to manage a clock — the Broncos as well. However, the Jets STINK. They scored a few in garbage time and a big play from Jamison Crowder made it prettier than it was, but they were down 21-0 at the half. The Jets did a good job stuffing the run in 2019, but I think the Niners run wild on them. Shanahan will coach circles around Adam Gase, take the under too.
