There have been recent murmurs about Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. being ahead of schedule, and it’s possible those reports were underselling it. Because according to multiple sources, Spencer Strider is expected to make his first appearance of the Grapefruit League tomorrow.
Strider has been throwing off the mound for well over a month, receiving votes of confidence from everybody that has watched him pitch. When he suffered a UCL injury in April of last year, he chose to go the internal brace route rather than the more common Tommy John surgery. The reason being is he wanted to be ready for Opening Day, rather than potentially miss all of 2025.
While Strider pitching in the first week of the season isn’t going to happen, we could see him as early as mid-April. Tomorrow will be a treat, an opportunity to watch one of the best pitchers on the planet make his return after being out for nearly a full year.
