The Braves have yet to announce their NLDS roster, but all signs are currently pointing towards Spencer Strider, who has been dealing with an oblique injury, being a part of it. The team has said several times that they were optimistic about his chances of returning, and most recently, Strider himself said he “feels great” after throwing off a mound yesterday.

Providing no setbacks, I fully expect Strider to be on the roster. This was likely the last step in the team determining whether he would be available, and it seems like he passed with flying colors. The next question is how the Braves plan to use him. Strider hasn’t pitched in over three weeks, so the Braves could opt to use him in a relief role rather than as a starter, but my gut tells me he will get the rock in Game 3.
Assuming he’s included on the NLDS roster, this has the chance to be a week Strider will never forget. This morning, the Braves announced he signed a six-year extension to stay in Atlanta, and now, he’ll aim to become a postseason hero in his first taste of playoff baseball.
