Several potential Braves trade deadline targets dealt over the weekend

Anthopoulos MLB Trade Deadline

The trade deadline is Tuesday, and the Braves have yet to make a move, but a flurry of deals could come as Alex Anthopoulos works the phones.

Over the weekend, Atlanta split a series with the Mets in New York; however, another injury could spell bad news for the club. Reynaldo Lopez exited Sunday’s contest with a forearm injury, but we won’t know more until sometime today. It may change Anthopoulos’ approach to the deadline if it’s serious.

Several potential Braves trade deadline targets are off the board, though. It always felt like a long shot that Anthopoulos would acquire a starter, but one that the Braves were connected to was Zach Eflin, who the Rays traded to the Orioles over the weekend.

We know the Braves will be looking for outfielders as well, and one popular name among fans was Jesse Winker, who was traded in a rare intra-division deal from the Nationals to the Mets.

Randy Arozarena was always a pipe dream, and he was moved to Seattle as Tampa Bay continues to purge its roster to remain light on the books. Another potential fit for the Braves from the Rays, All-Star infielder Isaac Paredes, was moved in a deal with the Cubs.

Jazz Chisholm could’ve potentially filled two voids for the Braves, outfield and second base, and was thought to have matched up well with the locker room fit but ended up going to New York to wear pinstripes.

There’s still a lot of time between now and the trade deadline for the Braves. Nobody should be surprised when several moves are announced within a few hours of each other.
