Several key Falcons miss practice ahead of tilt against Seahawks

NFL: SEP 22 Chiefs at Falcons

The Falcons are preparing for another pivotal matchup this week as the Seahawks travel to Atlanta for a Week 7 contest.

Unfortunately, they might be a shorthanded home team. On Wednesday, the Falcons were without Lorenzo Carter, Justin Simmons, and Troy Andersen, while Bijan Robinson, Antonio Hamilton, Matthew Judon, and Nate Landman were designated as limited.

Suffice to say, the Falcons are in danger of being without several key starters on Sunday.

The combination of Simmons and Jessie Bates III has proven to be quite difficult for opposing offenses to move the ball on. Offenses are choosing to run the ball supplemented with quick throws instead of testing Simmons and Bates.

Andersen continues to rehab from an injury that has kept him out for two weeks now, but the combination of him and Landman potentially missing the team’s Week 7 contest would prove detrimental to Atlanta’s already struggling defense.

Missing Carter might actually be an example of addition by subtraction. In reality, I’m not sure the Falcons have a better alternative; however, he certainly doesn’t need to be playing as many snaps as he is right now, even if Carter does things that don’t show up on the stat sheet.

Thankfully, it’s only Wednesday, so the Falcons have time to get some of these guys healthy for an NFC matchup that could prove very important at the end of the season.
