The Falcons have an excellent opportunity to get their hands on draft prospects at this week’s scouting combine. However, there are a few players the Falcons might have interest in that have announced they’ll be skipping the workout for various reasons.
Per Ian Rapoport, LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. won’t participate in the on-field workouts in Indianapolis. He’ll instead wait until LSU’s Pro Day on April 6 after suffering a Lisfranc injury to his foot, which required surgery. Rapoport’s report suggests Stingley is close to 100%, but he isn’t quite there.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Ole Miss star Matt Corral won’t throw this week at the scouting combine. Corral continues to work his way back from an ankle injury he suffered more than eight weeks ago in the Sugar Bowl. Pelissero reported Corral resumed moderate throwing a couple of weeks ago and plans to be a full participant in the Rebels’ Pro Day on March 23.
Evan Neal also won’t be doing any on-field drills, according to Ian Rapoport. Alabama’s Pro Day is set to take place on March 30, so scouts will have to wait until then to see the potential No. 1 pick. The Falcons would have to get lucky for Neal to slide down draft boards to them at No. 8, but it’s certainly a possibility.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported George Karlaftis working out at the combine is also up in the air, but he did confirm that Hassan Haskins will only bench as he recovers from a lower leg injury. Justyn Ross will also join the list of Falcons’ mid-round targets that won’t work out this week.
Among players who won’t work at Combine or at least still deciding:
—Purdue DE George Karlaftis (no decision yet, still mulling)
—Michigan RB Hassan Haskins (will bench only, recovering from lower leg injuries)
—Clemson WR Justyn Ross (foot surgery, will work at his pro day)— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 1, 2022
#LSU CB Derek Stingley Jr., perhaps the top CB in the draft, will wait until his Pro Day on April 6 to workout, source said. Stingley had surgery for a Lisfranc injury during the season and is nearly 100%. But not quite there yet, so no workouts at the Combine.

#Bama OL Evan Neal, a potential top overall pick for the NFL Draft, will wait until his Pro Day on March 30 to work out, source says. He’ll participate in interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine, but after a long season, he’ll take a few extra weeks to prepare.

Ole Miss QB Matt Corral won’t throw this week at the combine as he continues to work his way back from an ankle injury suffered in the Sugar Bowl, source said.
Corral resumed light throwing two weeks ago and the plan is to be full-go for pro day March 23.
