It didn’t sound like the Braves originally thought Sean Newcomb suffered a concussion after being struck with a line drive off the bat of J.T. Realmuto. Brian Snitker said on Monday that Newcomb could be available as early as Wednesday. However, it’s Wednesday, and the Braves have put Newk on the seven-day Injured List for concussions.
#Braves today placed LH Sean Newcomb on 7-day concussion IL, backdated to June 18 — after saying for 3 days that he had no signs of concussion from being hit by line drive Saturday. They recalled RH Huascar Ynoa from Triple-A Gwinnett.

In his place comes fireballer Huascar Ynoa, who made his major league debut on Sunday against the Phillies. Ynoa struck out two and only allowed one hit in two scoreless innings of work. The 21-year-old began the season in A+ ball with the Florida Fire Frogs and has rocketed through the system. Â It’s no secret the Braves are in need of bullpen help, so if Ynoa can continue to impress, he might carve out a permanent role as the season goes on.
