The Falcons’ matchup with the Saints will not be at full strength on Sunday. Both clubs have already lost their centers, with Drew Dalman on the injured reserve for an ankle injury and Erik McCoy on the IR for a groin injury.
It could be even worse for both sides, too. Kaleb McGary isn’t expected to need an IR stint, but his status for Week 4 is unclear. If he’s unable to go, Atlanta will be down two starting offensive linemen. Considering Zac Robinson and Kirk Cousins are still trying to build chemistry within Atlanta’s offense, it’ll be a brutal loss.
In that same breath, the Falcons may still hold the health advantage if McGary isn’t able to go. The Saints had seven players, including four critical starters, either not practice on Wednesday or do so in a limited capacity.

New Orleans fell in Week 3 to the Eagles, and the Falcons’ rivals saw several key starters injured along the way — Alontae Taylor (illness), Demario Davis (hamstring), Alvin Kamara (hip/ribs), and Cesar Ruiz (knee). Carr practiced in a full capacity, but the other four didn’t practice at all.
The Falcons would be extremely lucky to catch the Saints without two of their best players, Davis and Kamara. Even though it’s Week 4 and only the first game of divisional play, it feels like Raheem Morris has to come out of this one with a win. You don’t want to have to go to New Orleans and win in the Super Dome.
Having the health advantage would go a long way in that.
