The Falcons seem to be the team Deshaun Watson has already chosen, given Matt Ryan’s willingness to push off a roster bonus three days, which gives me the impression Atlanta is searching for a suitor by Tuesday. At least one team has been linked to that possibility. According to Josina Anderson, the Seahawks, who just traded away Russell Wilson, called the Falcons about acquiring Ryan.
I'm told the #Seahawks would 'prefer to add an experienced veteran starting quarterback.'
Inquiry* calls have gone out to the #Falcons about Matt Ryan, Cleveland on Baker Mayfield and others, per league source.— IG: JosinaAnderson (@JosinaAnderson) March 18, 2022
The roster bonus being pushed back could really be Watson needing more time to decide, but it’s equally likely the Falcons did it to find a suitable landing spot for Ryan. I imagine Falcons brass sat the veteran quarterback down and explained the situation, then sold him on the idea of being traded to a Super Bowl contender. Regardless, it seems Ryan will have a robust trade market if Atlanta lands Watson, which only benefits the Falcons.
