When the Falcons hired Raheem Morris, all of the talk surrounded his infectious attitude and ability to connect and lead men. The club immediately reaped the benefits of that when Morris brought Zac Robinson with him from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
The former Rams quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator was the hottest commodity on the offensive coordinator market. Every club with an opening wanted Robinson, but the Falcons had Morris, who leaned on his relationships.
Most recently, Raheem Morris may have been the driving force that sealed the deal with Justin Simmons, the most sought-after safety available in free agency. According to Jordan Schultz, a dinner with Morris, Jessie Bates III, Grady Jarrett, and A.J. Terrell helped push it across the finish line.
Sources say dinner Monday night with HC Raheem Morris, as well as All-Pro’s Jessie Bates, Grady Jarrett and AJ Terrell, helped seal the deal with the #Falcons.
Now they land Justin Simmons, whose 30 INTs since his rookie year are tops in the NFL. https://t.co/A5fmJFInBJ

Everyone did their part, including Jarrett, who went on Good Morning Football to talk about his role in the evening.
“As we’re leaving dinner, pulling off you know, I was driving something real nice that night, as the valet’s bringing my car up, I’m pulling off and I told him ‘hey Justin, this is how Atlanta take care of you right here, baby’. Then I went home and let the rest take care of… pic.twitter.com/6R4i5hK5dk

The Falcons got substantially better over the last couple of days, with Justin Simmons joining Jessie Bates on the back end, and Matthew Judon joining Jarrett and David Onyemata in the trenches.
Raheem Morris goes a long way in those acquisitions, but so does Kirk Cousins. Is he a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback that everyone is taking veteran minimums to play with? No, but he’s good enough to inspire some hope in Atlanta for the first time in a long time.
As currently constructed, the Falcons should be taken seriously in the NFC. If they add a starting-caliber cornerback, they will force the entire league to respect them on a Super Bowl level.
