The Hawks have suddenly become one of the focal points of this year’s NBA trade deadline, with Bogdan Bogdanovic emerging as a prime candidate to be moved in the coming days, as several notable teams like the Lakers and Heat are interested.
“The Bogdan Bogdanovic market is heating up. Atlanta is likely to make a deal in the coming days with multi-team frameworks being worked on. The Suns, Heat, Spurs, and now the Lakers have interest in Bogdanovic,” according to Brett Siegel.
Bogdanovic only has one year left on his contract at $16 million, but the veteran does have a team option for 2026-27 at the same price. The Hawks sharpshooter is amid the worst year of his career. He’s shooting career lows across the board, scoring 10 points per game at 37.1% from the field and 30.1% from deep.
The Hawks would be selling low, but there’s no guarantee that Bogi’s value will be any higher in the future. In fact, is anyone confident that Bogdanovic, at this age, will do anything but decline? It seems Landry Fields is thinking the same, as Siegel notes Bogi is likely to be moved.
“Bogdanovic being moved ahead of the trade deadline appears to be a very likely scenario at this time, especially after he was a healthy scratch in recent games. Now, the veteran guard is being listed as not being with the team.”
The Hawks are interested in selling and buying at the trade deadline, mulling moving Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic while bringing in Brandon Ingram. I like the idea of trimming the fat on this club. There’s not much risk associated with trading Capela and Bogi and acquiring Ingram because he’s on an expiring deal.
