If you’ve been following the Hawks closely, you are well aware they seem to be on everybody on the market. Depending on who you ask, they are trading or signing a star player. They have been linked to Jrue Holiday (before he was traded), Rajon Rondo, Joe Harris, and most recently, Danilo Gallinari. According to Kevin O’Connor, the Hawks are prepared to offer the 6’10” small forward and could be signing him right when the free agency window opens.Â
"I heard [the Hawks] are going after Danilo Gallinari. I’ve heard they very well may be signing Danilo Gallinari as soon as free agency opens."

Gallinari is coming off the best two seasons of his career, averaging over 19 points a game and shooting well over 40% from the three-point line since the 2018-2019 season.Â
Earlier this offseason, the Italian sharpshooter admitted that it is not about the money at this point in his career; he is focused much more on winning than cashing in. You’d think that would take the Hawks out of the running, given they have picked inside the top six in each of the last three years. However, perhaps this is a sign that players are taking notice of the potential in Atlanta.Â
Of course, the Hawks also have the type of pockets that can make any player change their mind. They have over $40 million to spend, and there aren’t many high-quality names worth long-term commitments. Gallinari is one of the best of the bunch, and his three-point shooting and versatility would allow him to fit perfectly with the Hawks. We’ll see how much truth there is to this rumor, but we won’t have to wait long. The NBA free agency period begins on Friday.Â
