Per Ian Rapoport, all of the draft buzz about the Falcons moving up was not smoke. He tweeted this morning that Atlanta was attempting to trade up to select C.J. Henderson out of Florida, who was eventually chosen by the Jaguars. The Falcons had conversations with the Dolphins and Chargers, but they would not move because they had their eyes on Tua and Justin Herbert. Atlanta and Carolina didn’t work out a trade because they are in the same division, and Arizona wouldn’t budge because they wanted Isaiah Simmons.
#Falcons wanted to trade up for #Florida CB CJ Henderson. Why didn’t they?
— #Dolphins & #Chargers took QBs & wouldn't move.
— Not trading with #Panthers, same division.
— #AZCardinals wouldn’t move, wanted to take Simmons.
— ATL knew Jax was taking Henderson… and they did.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 24, 2020
As a fan, I’m happy this did not happen. I was never in favor of them giving up tons of draft capital to move into the Top 10. And if they had done it with players like Derrick Brown/Isaiah Simmons on the board and decided to take C.J. Henderson — I might have just thrown my TV. Regardless, the Falcons seem happy with their newest cornerback, A.J. Terrell, and they didn’t have to give up any picks to select him.
