Free agency is underway, cuts are on the horizon, and we have already heard about a few Falcons that will not be back with the team in 2020. Atlanta announced a few weeks ago they are moving on from starting defensive end, Vic Beasley, and now it is being reported they do not plan on re-signing Kemal Ishmael, per D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC, who received the news from Ishmael’s agent, Fred Lyles.
Ishmael has been with the Falcons since he was drafted in the 7th round of 2013 Draft. To begin his career, he was primarily an in the box safety that loved contact, starting 15 games at the position in the 2015 and 2016 seasons combined. Ishmael was then moved to linebacker in 2016 but still spent some time at safety and was a critical part of the Falcons special teams. Over seven years with the team, he appeared in 95 games, recording 290 tackles and five interceptions.
