According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Falcons are a dark horse to acquire Texans QB Deshaun Watson:
The Falcons have emerged as a sleeper team to acquire Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, league sources tell @mortreport and me. The Falcons join the Panthers, Saints and Browns as teams that have met with, or are interested in, trading for Watson. More to come on ESPN.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank is fond of Deshaun Watson from the days when the former Gainesville (Ga) High quarterback worked multiple years as a Falcons’ ball boy and developed a relationship with Blank's family. https://t.co/EypxrnF9ma

The #Falcons are going to meet Deshaun Watson on Wednesday, according to @RapSheet

The second tweet really ties this whole thing together. Watson has had a relationship with the Falcons since he was a child, and even though he has had some recent legal troubles, the Falcons still seem to be interested in his services. However, this could also be Terry Fontenot driving up the asking price since the Panthers and Saints are rumored to be in on Watson as well.
For the sake of the entire franchise and the fan base, I’m hoping this report is true. From a purely football perspective, this is the first time I’ve been excited about something the Falcons might do in years. I still find it unlikely that it comes to fruition, but it is possible. The team has yet to restructure Matt Ryan‘s contract, which means they could decide to trade him and totally hit the reset button. It may not mean the Falcons will be competitive next season, but in the long-term, trading for Watson would be a humungous win for this new regime.
