The talks also reportedly went “well,” and there is mutual interest on both sides. This is a major shock to me; I thought it was almost a foregone conclusion that Campbell’s time in Atlanta was finished. The Falcons are about as cap-strapped as you can get, and Austin Hooper HAS to be a priority over De’Vondre. I think offering Campbell a contract of any kind would be a massive mistake. Foyesade Oluokun is ready to take over his role, and even if they somehow keep him AND Hooper, the Falcons will have no money whatsoever leftover. Campbell is what he is; he’s a good player who has mental lapses and can be a liability in coverage at times. The Falcons would be much better off retaining Austin Hooper and moving on from Campbell.
We’ll keep you posted if anything else develops regarding De’Vondre Campbell
