The rumors are buzzing — with nearly every draft expert naming the Falcons as a team that is expected to be aggressive tonight. But finally, we have a report suggesting that may not be the case, as ESPN’s Dianna Russini spoke with someone close to the organization, and they told her, “Don’t believe the hype.”
I reached out to a source with Atlanta about a possible trade to move up to the top tier of the draft.

Now, I’m of the belief you can’t trust any report this close to the draft. There’s so much smoke it’s impossible to detect where there is fire. However, this is one of the more reasonable rumors out there. As much as I’d like to see Chase Young, Isaiah Simmons, or Jeffery Okudah in red and black this season, it’s highly unlikely. The Falcons have too many holes to address, and trading up for one of them would cost most of all their picks in this year’s draft.
With that said, I don’t think this takes Atlanta out of moving up entirely. They could still be eyeing guys like Javon Kinlaw, C.J. Henderson, or K’Lavon Chaisson, who won’t take nearly as much draft capital to acquire. Either way, tonight is going to be a thrill in what is the beginning of a make or break draft for the Falcons organization.
