There’s been a lot of unfortunate injury news this week. Austin Hooper, who is amid a career-year, will miss about a month with an MCL sprain, and Devonta Freeman will miss at least this week’s game against the Panthers with a foot sprain. However, the Falcons will get one weapon back on defense in cornerback Desmond Trufant, as Dan Quinn told the media today that he will play Sunday in Carolina.
Dan Quinn says Desmond Trufant will play vs. the Panthers

Trufant was last active in Week 5 when he was lit up by Texans’ wide receiver Will Fuller. However, before that game, he’d easily been Atlanta’s best corner recording two interceptions and four passes defended.
After a stellar week for the Falcons defense where they only surrendered nine points on the road to the Drew Brees led Saints, Trufant’s return should bring even more confidence to this secondary. Kendall Sheffield has thrived as a starting cornerback, and Damontae Kazee has been far better since returning to safety. If this pass rush can replicate their performance from last Sunday, the Falcons could be in for back-to-backs wins for the first time all season.
