Some might not have believed the legitimacy of Adam Schefter’s original report that the Falcons are a dark horse team in the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes, but those rumors are continuing to pick up some steam. Most recently, ESPN’s Dianna Russini tweeted that Watson has interest in playing for the Falcons and even reached out to the organization in an attempt to maneuver his way there.
I’m told QB Deshaun Watson has interest in the Atlanta Falcons and has even reached out to the franchise personally, per source. https://t.co/wdQfgaXGjR

NFL insider Peter Schrager also went on The Herd with Colin Cowherd today and confirmed the rumors, stating Watson would like to play in Atlanta—his hometown—and the Falcons should reciprocate that interest. Not only would Watson give Arthur Smith a franchise quarterback for the next decade, but it would also prevent division rivals like the Saints and Panthers from trading for Watson.
According to reports, Falcons representatives are set to meet with Watson tomorrow. It’s unclear exactly how interested Atlanta is in trading for Watson and all the baggage that will surely come; however, if they feel comfortable with his legal standing, it makes a ton of sense from a football perspective. It’s time for the Falcons to hit the reset button, and that will be much easier to do with a quarterback like Watson in the fold.
