Dansby Swanson is beginning his rehab assignment tonight as a DH in Rome, and Brian Snitker says, “if all goes according to plan,” Swanson could be back with the team on the upcoming road trip.

The Braves shortstop last played on July 23rd when he suffered an injury to his heel. Initially, he was scheduled to return after the minimum ten days spent on the IL, but it has taken much longer to recover from than originally expected. Atlanta heads to New York this weekend followed by a one-game stop in Colorado for a makeup. I’d imagine Swanson won’t be traveling to the Rockies, so a return in Toronto appears the most realistic possibility if all goes well. Austin Riley is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment tomorrow in Rome as well.
