The Atlanta Hawks have the #1 overall pick in next year’s draft and are expected to move off several players this offseason. There will be no shortage of news in the coming months, and one player that has been mentioned several times already is center Clint Capela, who is expected to have many potential suitors, including the Bulls, Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Wizards.
The Grizzlies, Bulls, Wizards, and Pelicans are expected to show interest in Clint Capela, per @HPbasketball
“The Hawks are expected to trade one of Trae Young or Dejounte Murray, but not both. They'll keep one to build around.

The Clint Capela hate amongst Hawks fans is overblown. He doesn’t bring much to the table offensively, but he and Trae have worked fantastically together in the pick and roll. Capela has also been arguably the best defensive player on the team and easily the best rebounder. He’s a valuable piece that was instrumental to the Hawks run to the Eastern Conference Finals a few years back.
However, moving Capela does make a lot of sense, especially if the Hawks draft a center with the #1 pick. Alex Sarr, a center out of France, is the betting favorite to go to Atlanta, but several reports have also suggested that the Hawks are very fond of UConn big-man Donovan Clingan.
Clint Capela’s contract warrants Atlanta’s consideration to trade him as well. He’s entering the final year of his deal and is owed over $22 million. While that’s palatable for a player of his caliber in today’s NBA, those resources can be better utilized to address other areas of concern on the roster, especially if the Hawks take a similar type of player in the draft.
