The trade deadline is only a couple of days away, and we have our first official Braves’ rumor, courtesy of the MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. Just minutes ago, he tweeted that Atlanta has interest in the Angels’ Dylan Bundy.

Bundy is in the middle of a career-year in his first season with the Angels, boasting a 2.58 ERA in six starts this season, including one complete game. He also has 44 strikeouts and just 8 walks in 38.1 innings.
However, prior to this season, Bundy was with the Orioles for four years and recorded a 4.69 ERA over 125 games (103 starts). It’s clear getting out of what is typically an ultra-competitive AL East has done him wonders. He’s still just 27-years-old and has another year of arbitration remaining, so he would also help boost Atlanta’s rotation in 2021 as well, which seems necessary given how many of their young starting pitchers have performed this season.
The Angels are one of those teams that will undoubtedly be selling everything they can before the trade deadline, and that started yesterday when they dealt Tommy La Stella to the Athletics. Bundy is one of their more attractive trade pieces, and as Morosi mentioned, the Braves aren’t the only team interested, so we will see if Atlanta can strike a deal. But this does tell us that Alex Anthopoulos is actively looking to add at least one pitcher before the August 31st deadline, preferably one with control past this season.
