Bryan Reynolds is a name that has been connected to the Braves, at least by fans, for a while. Now, with a public trade request, the Braves may be pursuing Reynolds to a higher degree, according to Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic.
Bryan Reynolds’ trade request leaked Saturday afternoon — less than 48 hours before the start of MLB Winter Meetings.
The timing likely was not coincidental, @RobBiertempfel writes.

I would love to see the team make a push for Reynolds, but he will not come cheap. Not only is he an All-Star, but he’s under team control until 2025. However, it seems the Braves were in on Reynolds before this trade request was even made:
During the Winter Meetings, rival GMs probably will blow up Cherington’s phone with inquiries about Reynolds. The Yankees, Marlins, Red Sox and Blue Jays are known to have interest.
At the start of the offseason, a major-league source told The Athletic the Braves might make a strong, under-the-radar push for Reynolds this winter. That could mean a sort of homecoming for Reynolds, who attended Vanderbilt and lives in Nashville, a four-hour drive from Atlanta.
It would be interesting, and with a less-than-ideal farm situation, the club would probably have to sacrifice a guy like William Contreras, Vaughn Grissom, or potentially both, along with more pieces. Reynolds fills two huge needs for Atlanta — corner outfield play (Reynolds played both left and right field before the 2020 season) and a switch-hitting bat. I think he’s the type of player the Braves would covet; the question is: do they have the pieces to make a splash deal like this?
