The Falcons have made a few minor moves this offseason, with all four free agent acquisitions bolstering the defensive side of the ball. It’s a good start, but most fans have their eyes on a Trey Hendrickson trade.
Leonard Floyd is an upgrade over what Atlanta had last season; however, he cannot carry the pass rush. He’s not that kind of guy. With Mike Hughes back in the fold and Divine Deablo joining the linebackers, the Falcons have filled a lot of their roster needs at this point in the offseason.
But the need for a superstar pass rusher will never go away — i.e., the Trey Hendrickson trade. The veteran has been granted permission to seek a trade by the Bengals, and the Falcons have been linked to him.
So, what’s the hold up? Well, it could be Cincinnati’s asking price, which Cameron Wolfe revealed to be a first-round pick and more.
A look at where Bengals stand with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson including a very high asking price for teams calling to trade for the latter two.

Hendrickson is coming off a season in which he led the league with 17.5 sacks, a mark he reached the season prior too. Over the last five seasons, he’s racked up 70.5 sacks, making the Pro Bowl in four straight seasons.
With Maxx Crobsy reaching a new deal worth $35 million per season and Myles Garrett eclipsing that with a $40 million per year deal, the Bengals are clearly not keen on giving Trey Hendrickson that kind of money.
Would the Falcons? Desperate teams do desperate things, and I don’t think there’s a more desperate team when it comes to their pass rush than the Falcons. A first-round pick and more for a 30-year-old turning 31 in December that needs a new contract might not exactly be everyone’s cup of tea.
It’s a difficult situation, but these kinds of players, rare superstars, never become available for a reason. Sometimes, they’re worth overpaying in the moment.
