The Falcons decided to take the road less traveled when they chose to hire Raheem Morris on Thursday night, passing over six-time Super Bowl winning head coach Bill Belichick.
The fan base appears split on the decision, but the players aren’t. They are going to love playing for Raheem Morris, who had an initial message to Falcons fans and the organization when he learned he would be getting the job.
Cont’d:
“I am incredibly appreciative of Arthur Blank for his leadership and for this entire organization for putting its trust in me to help lead this team.”

Fans that aren’t fond of Raheem Morris now will learn to love him as he gets in front of the mic in the public eye. He’s nearly impossible not to like, featuring an infectious personality. There’s a reason former players like Jalen Ramsey have been willing to go to bat for him at every turn.
Still, having a likable personality does not mean someone is ready to be an elite head coach. Morris has been given opportunities in the past and failed. The hope is those experiences are ones that he has learned from, and he can take those lessons and help turn the Falcons organization around.
It won’t be an easy task. The Falcons have talent, but they still don’t have a quarterback. Without one, it’s nearly impossible — even for the best head coaches — to win. Losing isn’t going to fly in Atlanta for long. They haven’t made the postseason in six years; whoever took this job was always going to be expected to win immediately. Raheem Morris may win most of the fan base over with his personality leading into the 2024 season, but those same fans will turn on him quickly if he can’t start stacking victories in bunches, whether it’s fair or not.
