Raisel Iglesias 2023 Stats
Iglesias was unbelievable for the Braves after he was acquired from the Angels just before the bell at the trade deadline. In 28 appearances, he allowed just one runner to cross the plate, good for a 0.34 ERA. Things will be a little different in his second season with the Braves, however.
Heading into 2023, Iglesias is penciled in as Atlanta’s closer following the departure of Kenley Jansen, who signed with the Red Sox. That’s a much more challenging role, but it’s nothing new for Iglesias, who has been used primarily as a closer since 2017 until he joined the Braves last season. In his most recent complete season as the ninth inning man, he posted a 2.57 ERA with 34 saves in 39 opportunities and finished 11th in the AL Cy Young race.
A 0.34 ERA may not be realistic over an entire season, but Braves fans are going to love having Iglesias shutting the door in 2023. He’s been fairly consistent his entire career, recording ERAs around 2.50 almost every season as a closer. That’s exactly what I’m expecting from him this season.
Raisel Iglesias 2023 Stat Predictions: 4-4, 2.60 ERA, 2.51 FIP, 40 saves, 1.6 fWAR
