Mike Soroka’s 2023 Stat Predictions
Soroka’s 2023 campaign is undoubtedly the most difficult to predict. On the one hand, everyone is well aware of the talent. Before suffering back-to-back torn Achilles, he was already one of the best pitchers in the National League at the age of 23. However, it’s impossible to ignore what he’s been through over the past three years.
At 25 years old, I believe Soroka will eventually return to form and become a consistent MLB starter again. Will that be with the Braves? I’m not so sure anymore. The entire baseball world is rooting for him, but I’ve remained firm on this topic ever since he re-tore his Achilles. I’m not expecting anything from Soroka until I see him have success on a big-league mound again.
I think there’s a very high chance the Maple Maddux begins the 2023 season in AAA, and that’s just fine. He has to beat out some fantastic competition in Spring Training if he wants to be on the major-league roster for Opening Day. Eventually, he will most likely get another chance in Atlanta during the season, but anything he brings to the table will be icing on the cake. I’m once again going into 2023 expecting nothing from Soroka and hoping that he can prove me wrong.
Mike Soroka 2023 Stat Predictions: 1-3, 4.57 ERA, 4.88 FIP, 6.8 K/9, 0.2 fWAR
