Max Fried 2023 Stat Predictions
Max Fried turned in the best year of his career in 2022, which led to him finishing second in the NL Cy Young race. There are two primary reasons for his improvement. He walked fewer batters than he ever has before, giving away just 1.55 free passes per nine innings, and he gave up fewer home runs than ever before, surrendering a long ball just 0.58 times every nine innings.
Fried will never blow the league away with strikeouts, but he gets them when he needs them. He’s the ultimate competitor and has an incredible feeling about what to do on the mound. Fried seems to get better with each passing year, and there’s nothing from his success last year that points to regression coming in 2023. This is who he is, and I’m expecting another Cy Young caliber campaign from the Braves ace.
Max Fried’s 2023 Stat Predictions: 18-5, 2.65 ERA, 2.98 FIP, 8.7 K/9, 4.8 fWAR
