Kyle Wright 2023 Stat Predictions
Before the start of last season, I pegged Kyle Wright as my breakout candidate for the team. All he did was prove me right and then some. As a former 5th overall pick in the draft, I always knew Wright had the stuff to become an elite pitcher at the major-league level, but stuff is only half the battle in baseball. The mental hurdle can sometimes be too difficult for players to overcome. Wright proved that wasn’t the case in 2023, winning 21 of his 30 starts to go along with a 3.19 ERA.
I don’t think we will see Wright win 20 games again in 2023, but that’s because it is a feat that has become nearly impossible to reach in today’s game. However, I’m intrigued to see if he can build off what he accomplished last year or if he will regress a little bit. He’s probably the most difficult pitcher in the starting rotation to predict. His stuff is top-of-the-line, but as I said, that’s only half the battle. What happens if he hits a bump in the road? How will he react? I have Wright taking a slight step back in 2023, but he will still be an integral part of this rotation.
Kyle Wright 2023 Stat Predictions: 15-10, 3.85 ERA, 3.75 FIP, 8.5 K/9, 2.4 fWAR
